Nicole is working on the brochure and is nearly done.

Robert finished the title labels with the artist name and camera type, along with the price.

The whole show fits into the box seen here in front of my truck.

Preparing the alarm sensors for the photos on the floor.

hallway1.jpg (36624 bytes)

This is the main hallway to the cafeteria, intensive care and surgery recovery. It's a very busy place.

laurie1.jpg (42107 bytes)

Laurie Barrows is the curator for the hospital's artwork. There are at least two other artists on display now.

attachment.jpg (21333 bytes)

The attachment of the copper wire is with double sided tape and clear packing tape over the protective cover. Without the fold in the wire the pictures would fall.

sensoralarm.jpg (29208 bytes)

The sensors are attached to the photos and to an alarm that rings when they are moved.

Across from the main switchboard the hallways turn toward the ER and more of our photos. Surgery is down this wing and I watched  as people scanned our images before going into surgery. Burning Love and Falling Springs wait for wire attention. The first six we prepared last night didn't have the bent wire so they were in danger of falling. But after the repair, all went well.

fixing.jpg (40769 bytes)

My sweetheart of 30 years helping on the project. She drove down to help repair the six in need of attention. The exhibit is about 35 miles form our house and 50 from her work.

hallway3.jpg (48335 bytes)

The process of attaching the sensors and stabilizing the photos took about 2.5 hours. The photos are very lightweight and the air conditioning vents gave us cause to affix the photos with extra tape to the wall.

Greg's photo was somewhat unusual in it's subject matter so we gave it a place of it's own.

framefalls.jpg (32121 bytes)

Straightening one last time. Yuji, Fantasia does not look that color, it is the fluorescent lighting tricking the photograph.

rainbow.jpg (42523 bytes)

The Rainbow Ropes brighten the halls!

Break time!

noels.jpg (44772 bytes)

Noel's awesome shot is on the corner between the two display hallways and to the right of the receptionist's office. Jim Johnston's Swamp is across the hall the and Ron Reznick's Minaret is on the other side of the receptionist's window.

Bio and picture name plates go up tomorrow. This is Ron's shot which looks out on Christina's Place, Mono Lake Sunrise, Framing the Falls, Fantasia, Sentry at Heaven's Gate, Burning Love and Falling Springs.

As we neared completion, an older gentleman was being escorted by a young nurse for an evening walk. The man was protesting and holding his side in pain. I felt his suffering as he passed me and snarled that he wanted to go back to his room .

But as he made it to the beginning of the ER hall he said in a very loud voice, "WHOA!" "Wait a minute here, what's this?"

His expression lightened and a hint of a smile was evident as he made his way along the photos, pointing and calling the artist's names.

"James Geddes.... Tony Blum..a, Terry Cervi... Keith Sutter..."  He paused and turned to the nurse, "These are wonderful photographs!" He made his way to every image and called each name as he went....

I wanted to pass that along to all of you. The instant gratification that came from the experience of placing these photos was amazing. Well over 100 people walked by and smiled in approval. So many stopped to talk and comment about what a wonderful group of photos we had brought. Their sincerity flowed as they described how much the art means to all that pass through those halls on a daily basis.

My friends, you are making a major difference in someone's life right now. Your art will reach out to so many in the coming weeks. You should all be very proud and very humble. This is a random act of kindness.

Thank you so much....

Two ladies standing quietly in the hall staring at the photos, moving like chess pieces from side to side, exchanging smiles and shaking their heads.

As I came closer one lady broke away from her concentration to acknowledge me, "fabulous, just fabulous". "Have you seen these photos?"
